Plate Painting! On Saturday 22nd September between 11 - 4pm in The Oracle shopping centre, Reading children were being asked to come along and support Daisy’s Dream and take part in the ‘Paint a Plate’ activity – it was messy but great fun! For just £2 children could create a unique gift for someone special.
Debbie Gibson from Villeroy & Boch who were sponsoring the event said “We are really excited about working with Daisy’s Dream and looking forward to working with the children to create some fantastic art – Villeroy & Boch are committed to working with our local community and we’re delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile charity.
The collection in the Oracle centre and the activity day raised over £600 for Daisy's Dream thanks to all the local children that took part and shoppers that contributed.
A special thank you goes to our volunteers, Allison, Christine, Tracy and of course the team from Aviva for all their hard work!
Elysce aged 4 with Mum Danielle from Reading is pictured having a great time!

Project 13 13 13 Update Gareth is approaching his final event...
This is what he has to say to all those who have supported him and run with him in his quest... "A big thank you for your support, commitment and dedication to get this far.
Undoubtedly you're feeling as if you may not have done quite enough training;
fear not you are probably not alone. But keep at it. You're part of a special
team and your running on the 16th September will make it a memorable and I know for some
of us, emotional day."
It's been a tough year with 13 half marathons over 13 months to celebrate young Max's life - this is what Toby said...

Charvil 5k FunRun
Sunday saw a great new race take place in Charvil at East Park Farm.... following flooding the race went ahead with a revised route but with over 100 runners taking part it was a great success!
Theresa May MP started the runners off and with the first participant coming in after just 16 minutes she was on hand to congratulate runners and present them with a well earned medal.
The sponsored run is hoping to raise over £1,000 for Daisy's Dream and next year promises to be an even bigger event - hopefully with the intended route and good weather!
Well done to the Daisy's Dream Team who took part which included Angela and Jenny from the office! 13 13 13 Challenge to remember Max...
Dad, Gareth Ralphs update... 13
Half Marathons in 13 months to celebrate a life. That's nearly 300,000 long
strides in total. Sweating yet? Read-on.......
This
year I am running 13 half marathons, in 13 months, in celebration of my son
(Max) in what would have been his 13th year.
I am doing this to raise
money for a very special local charity, Daisy's Dream, who support children who
experience bereavement (see: http://www.daisysdream.org.uk/). They were
very supportive to my family, and this
is my way of paying them back as best I can.
Having now run ten of the thirteen races,
I've thought quite hard about how to make the 13th and final race of the series
a really special occasion, I'm delighted to say that as well as myself running
'for Max' I'm going to be joined by 14 other runners who will be competing in
the Maidenhead half marathon on September 16th - the week of Max's
14th birthday and who will also be running 'for Max'..
To
make sure we hit our very challenging target, and therefore make a real
difference to Daisy's Dream, we're now looking to attract some corporate
sponsors and philanthropic individuals to really boost our fund raising efforts
and help us burst through the target.
We
hope you'd like to be part of our efforts and really help make a difference.
We
can't bring Max back and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish for
that. However, with a little effort, we can help Daisy's Dream support children
like my other son, who lost a loved one.
Max
was 15 months old when he died, his brother was just four years old at the time.
How do you explain what has happened to a four-year-old? How do you support
them in the following days, weeks and months? The answer is, you get help from
Daisy's Dream.
So,
what do you need to do now?
- If you want
to know more and perhaps play a bigger part in the celebration run on the 16th
September, please get in touch.
- If you know
people who you think might respond positively to this article, please
do forward it to them.
With
my considerable thanks.

Skydive Spectacular18th – 19th June 2011
The weekend saw our adventurous skydivers jumping from 10,000 feet to freefall at 120mph for 10 seconds and then gently glide down to earth as they took part in a tandem jump at an airfield in Swindon.
The 5 strong team were brilliant and they managed to dodge the clouds to make a spectacular landing right on target!
Kassi said “It was the best thing I’ve ever done, it’s like being on a roller coaster x100!” She’s now thinking about a static jump! Lewis aged 17 said it was “amazing” and was pleased with the £400 he raised for Daisy’s Dream. Jacky was thrilled and wants to know what the next challenge is!
If you would like to take part in a skydive please contact the Events Team at Daisy’s Dream and book your place!
Daisy Chain Walk Sunday 12th June 2011
The team assembled at the start to venture out across Virginia Water with its famous landmarks including the totem pole, cascade and roman temple determined to support Daisy’s Dream.
Despite the rain the event was a success and the children and their families taking part managed to spot the special daisies that had been planted on their way round the 4.5 mile route as they walked through the beautiful surroundings of the Royal landscape. The children were all delighted to take home their well earned prize as they left to dry off!
The event raised over £300 and sponsorship is still coming in to add to the total. The brilliant effort by everyone that joined in will make a difference to the families supported throughout the year by the organisation.
Join us next year to take part, and enjoy a pic nic – we’ve booked sunshine!!
