In Britain over 24,000 children are bereaved of a parent each year, whilst statistics for 2012 show there were 338,623 new diagnoses of cancer.  Therefore, as a professional, during the course of your work it is likely you will come into contact with a child living with the impact of a life limiting illness within their family or a child who has been bereaved.

Children & young people’s worlds may be shattered when someone close to them is seriously ill or has died. Their ability to cope and their overall resilience will be influenced by a number of factors; the nature of illness, the circumstances of the death, family relationships, the age of the child and the responses of people around them.

The day is suitable for professionals who support children & young people in a variety of settings, including health, education and social care.
