Mother’s Day can be really hard if your mum is no longer here. You might feel sad, angry, or even not sure how to feel at all—and that’s okay. There’s no right or wrong way to feel on this day. Here are some things that might help:
1. Do What Feels Right for You
You don’t have to celebrate Mother’s Day if you don’t want to. It’s okay to ignore it or spend the day in a way that feels best for you.
2. Remember Her in Your Own Way
If it helps, you could do something to remember your mum—look at photos, light a candle, write her a letter, or listen to her favourite song.
3. Talk to Someone You Trust
You don’t have to go through the day alone. If you’re feeling upset, talk to a family member, friend, or teacher. Letting your feelings out can really help.
4. Do Something That Makes You Happy
Sometimes, keeping busy can help. You could go for a walk, bake something, play a game, or watch your favourite movie—anything that brings you a
little comfort.
5. It’s Okay to Feel However You Feel
Mother’s Day might make you feel sad, but it might also make you smile when you remember happy times. However, you feel is completely okay. Be kind to yourself.
Remember, you’re not alone. Your feelings matter, and there are people who care about you and want to support you. We’re sending love to anyone grieving their mum or motherly figure this Mother’s Day.
