Daisy’s Dream in the Spotlight: BBC Children in Need

Behind the Scenes at Daisy’s Dream: Sharing Stories, Strengthening Hope

Recently, Daisy’s Dream had the privilege of welcoming BBC Children in Need to join us for a very special filming day. The focus of the visit was to explore the real impact of our work — and this meant shining a light on the voices that matter most: the young people we support.

For many children and young people, talking about grief can feel incredibly difficult. Finding the words to describe loss, sadness, confusion, or the ways life has changed takes courage. Yet on this day, the children who took part showed remarkable bravery, sharing their experiences with honesty, emotion, and clarity.

Their stories were powerful. They spoke about their brothers and sisters, about missing them, and about how grief can feel heavy and overwhelming. But they also spoke about connection — about how being supported, listened to, and understood can make all the difference.

Proud Moments

Claire, one of our Therapeutic Practitioners who was also filmed on the day, expressed how moved the team were by the young people’s openness:

“Myself, Philippa and Wendy are incredibly proud of all the young people who took part in our special film for Children in Need. They were so brave, talking about their brothers and sisters and describing how hard their grief feels. We thought they were amazing and can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

A Shared Purpose

Here at Daisy’s Dream, we support children and young people who are facing the death or serious illness of someone important to them. Some need support in the early stages, others months or years later — grief has no timeline. What matters is ensuring they feel seen, understood, and supported.

Being invited to share this work as part of BBC Children in Need is incredibly meaningful and hopefully will help raise awareness.

When Can You Watch?

Keep an eye out for us on Friday 14th November, when the film will be shown as part of this year’s BBC Children in Need campaign.
We hope everyone who watches will gain a deeper understanding of the emotional journeys children face — and the difference support can make.

Thank You

To the young people who took part: your voices are powerful, and your stories will help others feel less alone.
To our team, always walking alongside families with care and compassion: thank you.
And to BBC Children in Need: we are grateful for your ongoing support.

Together, we are sharing stories, strengthening hope, and ensuring every child feels heard.
