We are thrilled to introduce our incredible team of runners who are taking on the London Marathon 2025 in support of Daisy’s Dream! Lisa
“I’m running the London marathon for Daisy’s Dream because my dear friend Alexis died suddenly in 2011, leaving her husband and 2 gorgeous sons, aged 7 and 10.
I wanted to help them all deal with their terrible loss, but didn’t know how. I then became aware of Daisy’s Dream and their fabulous work supporting children through bereavement. They do a fantastic job, supporting young children in their darkest times.
I ran the London marathon for Daisy’s Dream in 2012 and did other fundraising projects for them in the following years.
However, I thought my running days were behind me after suffering chronic back pain and severe menopause for the past 5 years.
But I always thought I had one more marathon left in my legs, so I decided to commit to the London marathon once again, and am very fortunate to be representing Daisy’s Dream for the second time.
I’m 53 so started training in July, to give my body a slow build up to the long miles. The past 5 weeks have been a big challenge, running a minimum half-marathon every week! I’ve reached 18 miles in the long training runs, but my body is feeling the strain now. It’s a challenge to find the time to fit in all the training, whilst running my own business and being a single mum to 17 year old twins.
But I am fully committed to the training, and want to ensure I raise as much money as possible to help Daisy’s Dream continue their amazing work.
It is a privilege to represent them.”

“I am running for Daisy’s Dream because, when I was nearly four years old, my mum died suddenly from a heart attack. I am so pleased that children today who have also lost a parent have Daisy’s Dream to turn to for support. I love how the charity allows children to connect with others who have experienced a similar loss. That’s something I would have found incredibly helpful when I lost my mum.
Knowing that the money I raise will go towards such an amazing cause keeps me motivated every step of the way.”
Victoria has already smashed her £2,000 fundraising target! Here are some of the creative ways she has raised funds:
- Bristol busking
- Sharing on social media
- Parents included fundraising details in Christmas cards
- Asking for donations instead of Christmas presents
- Featured on Kennet Radio to promote Daisy’s Dream
- Step-mum promoted her fundraising in her choir group
- Promoted in local newspapers
- Plans to do a car boot sale and a work fundraising event

Adam
“I’m running for Daisy’s Dream because of a personal connection. My mum tragically passed away from cancer in 2004, which turned my childhood upside down. It felt like we were the only family experiencing such a loss, and we felt alone in everything that followed. I was 10 at the time, with a younger brother (8) and sister (6), and my dad was suddenly raising us on his own.
Daisy’s Dream stepped in and provided invaluable support, introducing us to other families going through the same thing. The charity helped us navigate our grief, offering counselling, activities, and events that made a real difference.
Now, I have the chance to give back and help other families who are going through similar situations. I’m incredibly proud to run the London Marathon in support of Daisy’s Dream and everything they do for bereaved children.”

Jess
“This will now be my third running event fundraising for Daisy’s Dream, and I feel really lucky to be part of the London Marathon team.
I feel a deep connection to the work Daisy’s Dream does, after losing my father suddenly when I was three years old. Unsurprisingly, this loss has stayed with me throughout my life and has had a deep impact on how I navigate the world.
I feel lucky to have such a wonderful mother who looked after my brother and me, but I know we would have benefitted massively from the amazing support Daisy’s Dream offers.
I am running the London Marathon to contribute towards the ongoing success of the charity and the essential role they play in supporting bereaved children and families.”

“Being 46, it has been a dream of mine to run the London Marathon for far too many years.
Having lost both my parents while being a ‘grown-up,’ I still felt a huge amount of loss. I can’t even imagine how hard it must be for a child losing a parent or sibling.
I want to raise as much money as I can so Daisy’s Dream can continue offering this wonderful support to children across Berkshire who need it.
I am so proud to be running the London Marathon for Daisy’s Dream and can’t wait to take on this challenge!”

“I have chosen to support Daisy’s Dream for the London Marathon after losing my mum suddenly in 2013. Going through a bereavement at such an important stage in life was incredibly challenging. I want to help ensure others have the support they need during such difficult times.”
