Important information from Daisy’s Dream

Important Update: Information Regarding a Beacon Data Security Incident

On Wednesday 5 August, we contacted supporters for whom we hold an email address to inform them of a recent data security incident involving Beacon, the customer relationship management (CRM) system used by Daisy’s Dream to securely manage supporter information.

We believe it is important to be open and transparent, so we are sharing the same information here.

Beacon has informed us that it recently identified unauthorised access to its systems. Following a detailed investigation, they have advised all organisations using Beacon to assume that information held within the system before 27 July 2026 may have been accessed by an unauthorised individual. We continue to work closely with Beacon as they respond to the incident.

At this time, there is no evidence that any personal information has been misused. However, we wanted to make our supporters aware of the situation and the steps they can take to remain vigilant.

Depending on your relationship with Daisy’s Dream, the information we hold may include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number and a record of your support for the charity, such as your donation history or previous communications with us.

We do not store payment card details, bank account information or other financial data within the Beacon system.

As a precaution, we recommend that supporters:

  • Be cautious of any unexpected emails, telephone calls or text messages claiming to be from Daisy’s Dream or another organisation.
  • Never provide passwords, banking information or other sensitive personal details in response to an unsolicited request. Daisy’s Dream will never ask for this information by email.
  • Check email addresses carefully before clicking links or responding to messages.
  • Contact us if you receive any communication that you believe may be fraudulent or falsely claim to be from Daisy’s Dream.

We understand that this news may be concerning, and we are sincerely sorry for any worry it may cause. Protecting the personal information entrusted to us is a responsibility we take extremely seriously.

We are continuing to work with Beacon and are following guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) to ensure that all appropriate measures are taken.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact Vicky at vicky@daisysdream.org.uk.

Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support of Daisy’s Dream.
