We’re delighted to introduce you to our new CEO, Laura Lewis, who has recently joined Daisy’s Dream to lead our wonderful charity.
Laura brings with her a wealth of knowledge of both working with children and charity leadership, having spent the last 8 years at another Berkshire-based children’s charity, Swings & Smiles, which grew substantially in her time there.
Laura has over 18 years of working with children and families across a range of settings and roles, including schools and children’s services; experience which puts her in an excellent position to support our service team, as they continue to develop and deliver professional support to an increasing number of bereaved families. She has already seen some of our service support work first hand, having taken the opportunity to attend our recent Teenagers’ Group Event, where she enjoyed meeting and talking to the young people who attended.
Laura is also passionate about the fundraising side of charity leadership and is looking forward to meeting many of our supporters and fundraisers. She is known for her hands on approach and has actively participated in fundraising and supporters’ events in her previous roles, including completing the London Marathon.
On a personal note, Laura also has a direct understanding of the huge impact that the death of someone close can have on a young person, having experienced the sudden death of her own father when she was 17 years old.
On her first few weeks at Daisy’s Dream, Laura comments. “I have felt really welcomed by everyone at Daisy’s Dream – there is such a range of amazing work carried out by the team and a real passion and dedication to supporting children and young people.
“I’m committed to continuing this work and developing the charity even further.”
As a charity, we are privileged to work with the most inspiring children and young people, often facing the most challenging of times, and the trustees and team are looking forward to working with Laura to build on the wonderful foundations of the last 26 years and lead us into the next positive era for Daisy’s Dream.
